Install in a minute

Unzip the download

Double-click watchparty.zip — you'll get a folder called WatchParty. Move it somewhere it'll stay (like Documents); deleting the folder removes the extension.

Open your browser's extensions page

Paste this into the address bar (browsers don't let websites open it for you):

Turn on “Developer mode”, then “Load unpacked”

Flip the Developer mode switch (top-right), click Load unpacked, and choose the WatchParty folder.

Developer mode just lets you install extensions from a folder — WatchParty isn't on the Chrome Web Store yet.

Allow camera & microphone, and pin it

A welcome tab opens — click Allow so video chat works. Then click the 🧩 puzzle icon in your toolbar and pin WatchParty.

Start a party

1 · Pick something On Netflix, Prime Video & more, click Watch together next to Play — or click the WatchParty icon on any video.

2 · Invite Hit 🔗 Invite in the sidebar and send the link. Everyone needs WatchParty and their own account for the service.

3 · Watch together Play, pause and skip stay in sync for everyone. Turn on your camera, chat, react — or float your faces over the movie with 🫧.

Questions

Is my movie shared or streamed to other people?

No. Everyone watches on their own account in their own browser. WatchParty only syncs play/pause/position and carries the chat. Video calls go directly between you and your friends.

Why does it need camera and microphone access?

Only for the optional video chat. Both stay off until you click 🎙️ or 📷 in the party sidebar. Wearing headphones avoids echo.

How do I update it?

Download the new zip, replace the contents of your WatchParty folder, then click ↻ on WatchParty in the extensions page.

Does it work on phones or Safari/Firefox?

Not yet — it's a desktop extension for Chromium browsers (Chrome, Arc, Edge, Brave, Opera).
